The Chapel
From Frikipedia
Reassuringly pretentious gastropub near Edgware Road station(s) in London.
The bar is staffed by a commendable array of Geoffs, who busy themselves during times of few customers (pretty much all the time) by meticulously slicing loaves of bread (incidentally, to prove how much of a gastropub the Chapel is, a small plate of bread cost £1.50).
The jus-based food is prepared in a small kitchen attached to the side of the bar, and the staff there consist of an angry-looking head chef and an emaciated subordinate in charge of peeling vegetables.
Despite the delusions of grandeur the menu seems to offer, the beer supply is a disappointingly standard fare, all Grolsch, Stella and Carlsberg. Usually a gastropub should serve at least 3 obscure continental lagers, so shame on the manager for that.
This lack of quality may be explained by the fact that the manager seems to spend all her time drinking huge amounts of white wine with her friends, who greedily work their way through the entire menu, eating well into the early hours of the morning. Meanwhile, Friki sat some distance away and tried to ignore its rumbling stomach, aware that it couldn't even afford a small bag of parsnip crisps.
