The Blackstock
From Frikipedia
The Blackstock is a quaint and slightly shambolic pub in the Finsbury Park area of London.
It is possible to buy a pint of Guinness and a Kronenbourg for the happy dance inducingly cheap price of £4.50.
The money the Blackstock loses on its drinks is made up by thriftiness elsewhere. For example:
- The Blackstock constructs bar stools out of discarded gas canisters with cushions on top. The warning symbols on the side of them are only an issue if the canisters are still full. Or if the landlord likes whoever is sitting there.
- The Blackstock's take on pub food is somewhat behind the times. Rather than attempting to become a gastropub, or even offering Burger and pint deals, it sticks with the idea of simply providing some bebby cheese rolls on a plate on the bar.
The Blackstock also has small piles of cat food deposited strategically around the pub, in a desperate attempt to force the landlord's cat to become friends with the drunks.
The Blackstock offers two TV's, which can show both football and the Grand National at the same time. Though neither will have the volume turned up to an extent that you can actually make it out over the other.
Frikipedia wards The Blackstock 2 Celtic Crosses out of 5.
