Aptly named NHL hockey team. Fans in St. Louis have been singing the blues since the team's birth in 1967, as in their entire team history they have never won the Stanley Cup. Coincidentally, the Toronto Maple Leafs' last cup occurred that same year, meaning that the two teams share the same period of Championship impotence...but don't tell this to any fans in the center of the universe.

In 2006, fans mispronounced the name of the team, or so Friki assumes, as any Blues game that was televised, the fans chanted "Booooo!". Having checked and verified that the team name was indeed not changed to the "St. Louis Boos", Friki can affirm that the reason for this was fan displeasure at missing the playoffs for the first time in a quarter century. That is of course a North American pro sports record for the most consecutive years qualifying for the playoffs. It is also a record number of seasons having qualified for the post-season without winning a single championship.

Notable Players

  • Supervillain, subversive communist, and Great Defector Brett Hull played most of his NHL career in St. Louis, before leaving to actually win championships in Dallas and Detroit.
  • The greatest player in the world, Martin Rucinsky is currently a roster player for St. Louis, but is presently "injured"...wink wink...
  • Wayne Gretzky once popped by for about five minutes for a beer on his way to New York
  • Benoit Hogue ended many games for the mighty blue and yellow
