Recently voted most dangerous city in America - this mighty city on the mighty Mississippi still rocks. Dubbed "The Gateway to the West" (which isn't such a great thing to brag about), St. Louis, Missouri, prides itself on cheap beer, sports, and a version of Mardi Gras known to natives as "Soulardi Gras" - named after Soulard Market.

A great sports town - as there is basically nothing else to do there - it hosts the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, Rams football, St. Louis Blues hockey, and the little-known Steamers soccer team (those naked men on billboards holding soccer balls in front of...well, their own.)

Other notables about St. Louis: The Arch, built in the sixties, in which you can ride a Mork and Mindy-type egg elevator thingy to the observation deck at the top (not suitable for those prone to claustrophobia.) Also has the Anheuser-Bush brewery - home to the Clydesdale horses seen in the Christmas and Super Bowl commercials. There is no donkey on the A-B grounds.

Additionally, St. Louis is known for its Italian district - or "The Hill" - for amazing food and festivals.

St. Louis-inspired quotes

"The City of St. Louis has affected me more deeply than any other environment has ever done, I consider myself fortunate to have been born here, rather than in Boston, or New York, or London." - T.S. Eliot on St. Louis

"You can't spell "hustler" without the S-T-L!" - Momma Con
