The well-known holness that, in the unlikely event of a game of football lasting for longer than 99m59s, the on-screen display will be incapable of showing an extra digit.

Two possible outcomes were proposed:

1. The counter will reset to zero, causing much confusion and perhaps voiding the match result entirely. 2. The on-screen display computer will crash, causing both team's scores to be reset to zero and resulting in a draw.

"It was just like the countdown to the millenium, really... dark, cold, and not very exciting."

Friki has obtained first-hand photographic evidence that the unlikely-sounding third outcome is, in fact, the true one. Sky Sports' counter is capable of displaying 100:00 (and indeed, 100:01, as in the photograph - right). It remains to be seen whether BBC Sports technicians are capable of a similar feat.
