Scuderia Toro Rosso are a made-up F1 team.

History

Red Bull finally performed the mercy-killing of Minardi in late 2005 and allowed Paul Stoddart to finally head for the door marked "We never want to see you again".

Red Bull execs completed a rather clumsy translation of the team name and announced plans to enter F1 in 2006 with the underwhelming driver pairing of fat Italian kart driver Vitantonio Liuzzi and the excellently named American, Scott Speed, though whether they actually carried out that plan remains unclear.

Rumours abounded that STR may have scored some points in 2006, but not many, and sightings of STR cars on film became as widely discussed as that blurry shot of a bloke in a gorilla-suit that everyone reckons is Bigfoot, as scientists attempted to work out if the shots were a hoax.

Ever a one for a practical joke, team boss Gerhard Berger pushed on with the delusion that he owned an actual racing team in 07, keeping the same driver line up because it clearly wasn't possible to work out if either driver was any good or not.

Spyker lodged a protest after the Malaysia GP, complaining bitterly of the fact that they were being beaten in the official results by a team that didn't actually exist. The FIA, possibly in on the cover-up, are yet to report their findings.

The Future

Massive online campaign by stupid geeky 9/11 conspiracy types (led by Spyker employees) finally force Berger to admit the truth in late 2007. There is no team.
