Also known as the caterpillar.

The standard move when you tease and goad someone into wanting to fight you, and then, in horror, realize they are actually GOING to fight you.

It involves giving in completely to the self-preservation instincts without regard to those nasty concepts of honour and manlihood. The most common variant of the Sami is to curl up into a fetal ball with the hands over the head and the legs protecting the internal organs. The "turtle" variant of the Sami is similar, except the subject curls into a ball with his back in the air and head on the ground under his arms.

Origins

Term originates from the legendary Ulf Samuelsson, the great NHL hockey superpest who made the "crosscheck to the face, run, and turtle" move part of ice hockey lore. After the retirement of old Ulfie, Sami Helenius came along to continue the tradition in his namesake.
