Nottingham is where Robin Hood comes from. It also contains two Wetherspoons.
Not many people realise this, but in the film "Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves", Kevin Costner got Robin Hood's accent spot on.
Nottingham has recently installed a lengthy tram network around the city, bringing the proud town smack bang into the middle of the 19th century. Scientists believe that this venture will either spawn steam powered locomotives in the city by the mid 2050's, or the gradual degredation and abandonment of the project, to the distress of precisely no one.
Amusingly, the computer voice woman who announces the stop names as the tram gets to them seems to have been pre-programmed with the "change here for.." addendum from the Tube by mistake. Therefore a lengthy ride on the Nottingham tube will allow you to be tempted by such wonderful sounding alighting reasons as "change here for the arboretum(?)", "change here for Asda" and "change here for the weird corner shop that sells soft drugs if you ask nicely". Although Friki may have hallucinated the last one whilst the wrong side of seven pints of Carling.
