Special chippy vinegar, with the chemical formula CH(little)3C00H. It is this which produces that wonderful fish and chip aroma.
Having recently acquired a bottle of it, Frikipedia is slighty less in love with non brewed condiment after discovering the ingredients list only contained the words "acid" and "flavourings".
