Overview

Two stations on the East London Line on the London Underground. Although technically consisting of two separate stations, they are really the same place, but interchange with slightly different boring suburban overground services. And have a very precise six minute walk between them.

Things to do near New Cross/New Cross Gate

Be afraid, be rather afraid.

Most of the pubs in New Cross are in that odd semi-open state when you walk past them. You can hear noises inside, but the door is shut and the windows are so thickly coated in nicotine stains and general grime that it is impossible to tell what lurks within.

Cheerily, the New Cross Inn is nothing like that. By that, Friki means it is exactly like that, but has the advantage of doubling as a cheery hostel for the stingiest of backpackers.

Friki Verdict

A solid three Celtic Crosses for New Cross (Gate). Though that may equate to 1 1/2 each.
