Interesting rice
From Frikipedia
A meal based on rice, and anything you can find to put in it to make it more interesting. It is noted for its absorbancy, which makes it an ideal meal before a session at the pub.
History
Some people invented interesting rice a long time ago. In Spain it is called Paella. In Italy, Risotto. Someone also came up with Kedgeree, but Frikipedia doesn't know where. The chinese offer egg-flied lice.
More recently, some hungry and destitute students had some rice and a miscellany of other ingredients.
Principles
The original intention of interesting rice was to cook a balanced and complete meal in one saucepan, and possibly eat it from that same saucepan. It was then realised that anything can go with rice, in much the same way that anything can go on pizza. A good combination of ingredients becomes "exciting rice", whereas a particularly odd combination, saved by the addition of a particular ingredient at the last minute is "inspired rice".
Interesting rice is best made with some kind of binding agent. Good choices are mayonnaise (added at the end), and tinned tomatoes (cooked with the rice). Alternatively, serve cold with cheese on top.
Please note: Not to be confused with Uninteresting Rice.
