Greenwich
From Frikipedia
Nowhere near King's Cross St. Pancras.
Overview
Bringing a piece of quaint south-coast charm to the grime of London, Greenwich is accessible by the DLR. Indeed, it has two stations serving it. These being Greenwich and the far more snappily titled Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich.
Things To Do In Greenwich
There are pubs here, but the time Friki went it was to hungover to bother with beer, and simply wanted stomach lining to soak up last nights gin still swirling around in its ulcered stomach. Which it found in droves.
There is an excellent pie and mash shop on the main road, which will give you a huge slice of pie and two scoops of mashed potato (in a school dinner style) for around three quid. All washed down with an industrial sized bottle of Tizer.
If you're still not full, Friki recommends a meander past Greenwich Park (good for a game of Inappropriate Football) down to a little tea shop, which Friki sadly can't remember the name of.
There, for around £5.95, you can eat a full cream tea. Which includes:
- A big pot of tea (Quickbrew not an option, but the English Breakfast is nice).
- A plate of salmon and cucumber sandwiches.
- A huge home made scone with a barrel of clotted cream and jam.
- A massive slice of cake.
With its belly still full of pie and mash, Friki was already feeling ill halfway through the scone, and when cake was offered it very nearly vomited all over a small dog sat nearby, at the thought of trying to cram any more food into itself before the end of the month.
Thankfully, the staff will be happy to swap your cake for a big glass of orange juice, for no extra cost. Largely because the cake cost more than the juice.
Friki Verdict
Friki awards Greenwich 4 Celtic Crosses out of 5. But to get the full experience of gluttony, would advise not eating for a week beforehand.
