Station on the Hammersmith and City Line. Also sort of on the Circle and Metropolitan Lines. Not really that "Great".
Things to do near Great Portland Street
There is a cafe attached to the station, which sells awful coffee, but slightly better pastries.
Alternatively, for your alcohol needs, go to The Albany. Or the other pub, though that looked rubbish. Don't expect anywhere to be showing the football, mind.
There is also a chess shop nearby, selling a magnificently overpriced chess set where the pieces are all major political figures. And no, Tony Blair wasn't a pawn.
