On a night out, nobody ever pays for a round with coins. So as the night progresses, you use all the notes in your wallet and end up staggering home with the GDP of a small African nation weighing down your pockets.
Frikipedia advocates all beverages totaling £2.50, and people going out with even groups of friends. Thus eliminating coinage.
