Overview
Station on the Metropolitan Line. Chesham is approximately 655 miles from central London.
The "tube" service to Chesham is a sketchy one. In order to reach it, you must alight at Chalfont & Latimer and go and stand in the freezing cold, waiting for the single train, single track Chesham service to arrive. When it occasionally does (approximately twice an hour), it will wait on the platform for ages while the driver gets out one end and walks to the other to drive the short distance back the way he came. His job depressed Friki.
Along with most other stations on the Metropolitan Line, Chesham had a waiting room which doubled as the womens toilets.
Things to do near Chesham
There is a litany of fun stuff to do in Chesham, a town where 97% of the populace are employed in the local branch of Sainsburys supermarket.
You can go and buy some rotten fruit from the quaint street market, enjoy a bacon sarnie in the interestingly-fused cafe-cum-sewing machine repair shop or enjoy a pint in the vaguely Wetherspoons-themed pub, The Misty Moon. You probably won't want to go to the bar next to the station, which was called the "Do Not Enter".
Finally, it is worth pointing out that the social fabric of the world is beginning to degrade around Chesham. Whether it is because they have different coloured buses is unclear, but one thing is for certain, when your town has used pregnancy testing kits being left casually on windowsills, you know something has gone wrong somewhere.
