Catchphrase

"Is it 'Crock of shit', Roy?"

Quality TV quiz show. Hosted by the reassuringly Irish presenter Roy Walker, it revolved around contestants (possibly from Wolverhampton) correctly guessing which well known catchphrase was being depicted by some crap cartoon on the big screen in front of them. Often these cartoons would involve a camp yellow robot called "Mr Chips". Mr Chips looked a bit like the bastard lovechild of C3PO and Dusty Bin off 3-2-1 and disturbed Frikipedia greatly.

The gormless contestants used to stare blindly at the depiction infront of them, while Roy Walker gave them helpful hints like "Say what you see", or "What's Mr Chips doing?". If a question was answered correctly, Roy would scream "RRIIGGHHTT!" and look like he'd just come in his trousers.

In the early stages of Catchphrase, Frikipedia seems to remember that contestants got cash for right answers, but in later years when the show ran out of money, this was replaced by a more esoteric points system.

Catchphrase was back on tv screens a couple of years ago, but sadly Roy Walker had retired, leaving the presenting to some crap ex local radio DJ or someone. It was bubbish and mercifully died the death fairly soon.

Catchprases

  • Vested Interest : Imagine a large, block depiction of the word 'interest'. It is wearing a wifebeater.
  • Top Heavy : Imagine a large-bosomed Mrs Chips, with a large flashing arrow pointing at her top half. Then imagine she is standing atop a set of bathroom scales.
  • Liar Liar Pants On Fire : Mr Chips is wearing a pair of flaming Y-fronts. You get the idea.
