Station on the London Underground Northern Line.

Has the longest escalator in the Underground, and the whole of Western Europe, at 197 feet long and a vertical rise of 90ft.

Amusing Angel stuff

In March 2007, an unidentified man posted a video on YouTube of himself skiing down the escalator (reportedly sometime in 2006), an action condemmed by the Police and London Underground officials, but wholeheartedly approved by London commuters who finally had something interesting to look at on their travels.

Things to see

Angel station has the privilige of being located slap bang in the middle of Islington. Visitors can experience the thrills of Islington market where one can buy a set of AA batteries for £1.50, despite the fact you can get the same ones cheaper from Woolworths just up the road, and dozens of cheap tacky mobile phone accessories. You can also buy fresh fruit from several of the stalls if you are searching for a healthy lunch.

Angel is also nearby the N1 shopping centre, which has a grand total of around 6 shops, and a set of toilets that are free to use.

Islington Green is a pleasant place to sit and eat a sandwich or two, with the added knowledge that mayonnaise is readily available from the rear ends of the thousands of pigeons that investigate one's lunch box.

Mark "I'm a right royal skateboarding cockerney geeza" Blundell, is a possible sight around Islington, with the production office of ITV F1 located nearby.

Nearby Establishments

  • Visitors can visit a Wetherspoons just over the road from the station, containing the requisite quizzie and cheap beer.
  • The Bierodrome is a 10 minute walk along Upper Street, offering molluscy delights to few, and odd beers to all who can fit inside.
  • Le Mercury is a restaurant on the way to the Bierodrome, if you like cheap pate and offensive people.
