Anaheim Ducks
From Frikipedia
An NHL hockey franchise based in Southern California. Known for its huge crowds and gigantic support amongst the community.
Team History
The Ducks are one of two professional sports teams in Anaheim based on terrible Disney movies (the other being the Anaheim Angels). The team entered the league in 1992-93 as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, but no one really noticed until they made the stanley cup finals in 2003. In 2006, the team realized that they weren't actually "mighty", and became simply the Anaheim Ducks. The players responded to the name change and ended up winning the Stanley Cup in the following season, albeit against the Ottawa Senators; so really, it was not much of an accomplishment.
The Fans
The Anaheim faithful are like no other in the league. It has been argued that their passion and enthusiasm for the sport is the strongest of any professional sports team in North America. This was no more evident than when the city of Anaheim erupted after their 2006-2007 stanley cup win. There was rioting in the streets, several people were killed and hundreds were injured, thousands of cars were flipped and 18 buildings were burned; it was a terrible sight.
The fans are often seen skating the frozen ponds of California and playing pick up games in hope of being the next Guy Hebert or Anatoli Semenov.
