American Style Breakfast

American breakfasts are larger than life. As are the Americans who consume them.

Stereotypically consisting of loads of pancakes and layers of maple syrup, American breakfasts are the last of life's guilty pleasures.

Oddly, some American breakfasts mix bacon with syrup. Frikipedia finds this wrong and offensive. As wrong as pouring custard on roast beef, or opening windows on advent calenders two days early.

Friki Update

After years of resistance, and months of being upset because the American diner near Leicester Square stops serving them at 11am, Friki finally had a proper American breakfast just recently.

It consisted of:

• Pancakes (lots)
• Streaky bacon (lots)
• Maple syrup (lots)

And allowed Friki to test out whether or not bacon and syrup truly is as revolting as it always thought.

Friki Verdict

Friki was WRONG. By combining the savoury and the sweet, Americans have found a quick and simple way to combine a two course breakfast onto one plate. Although Friki can't see pancakes and bacon usurping the all dayer as Friki's hangover meal of choice, it nonetheless bequeths 4 Celtic Crosses out of 5 for American breakfast. And has to loosen its belt a little.
