Overview

All the talk in the British media after Monaco was not about trifling matters such as McLaren cheated and wouldn't let Tyler the Great win!!!, but instead about the shock new leader of the Unofficial Friki F1 Championship Standings in association with Celtic Crosses. The Times dedicated their front page to the news, whilst The Independant ran a six page feature on how such news may be connected to climate change. The Daily Express mused whether Sutil was a friend of Princess Di and the Daily Mail waved sticks at the foreigner and told him to stay away from our shores.

But who is he? Who is this prodigious talented rookie who has appeared out of nowhere to become a media darling and the saviour of F1? Well, read on and find out.

Early Career

Sutil started his hugely successful career in karting, where he was spotted by Spyker boss Colin Kolles. Kolles paid for him to step up to the hugely competitive Swiss Formula Ford Championship in 2002, in which all the cars were equipped with an entire gearbox of neutral gears. The usually hard-to-please Swiss press swiftly warmed to this most awesome of talents, and he lifted the ceremonial Nazi-gold-plated cuckoo clock aloft at the end of the season with his eyes very much on Formula One.

He moved through the ranks of Formula BMW and Formula 3, occasionally being seen to be overshadowed by the odd British driver of some note, but this is simply xenophobic media bias. Everyone in the know recognised that Sutil was the future. Ron Dennis, bitter that he'd only picked the second best young talent to stuff full of cash, refused to give Sutil a drive in 2006 and stuck with Crashem and Breakem, so Sutil moved to Japan and swept to the Japanese F3 title, beating the likes of Jonny Reid, Fabio Carbone and Takuya Izawa, who have all since say they consider Sutil to be the lovechild of Fangio and Senna who was adopted and raised from an early age by The Chin. Sutil shies away from media attention, and so cannot dispute this.

Formula One

Got his big break in F1 in 2007 through backmarking gaudy mess-ups Spyker, after Kolles decided to cash in on his hugely talented protege. After 5 events, he has clearly been quicker than his team mate in most of them (despite the results seeming to prove otherwise. YOU CAN'T TRUST RESULTS!) and has racked up a record number of pacy back row starts, along with brilliantly topping the timesheets in Saturday practice at Monaco. Even his harshest critics now say the first win cannot be far away, and a world waits in hope for that glorious day to arise.
