24 - Day 6

Overview
Jack Bauer returns for more terrorist-owning fun and frolics. Highlights of this series include a big old nuclear explosion over an unimportant area of Los Angeles, a competition to find out who is the worst fictional president in the history of government, a series of telling reminders as to why Jack probably doesn't visit the family for Thanksgiving, and a dramatic and telling couple of pointers as to why China is probably not a place you'd want to go on holiday unless you want a lobotomy.
What's New?
With most of the old recurring cast killed off in day 5, there's a big reshuffle for day 6. The president is now Wayne Palmer, who is the slightly useless brother of former president David Palmer, and is assisted by Tom Lennox (the bloke off of annoying skinny chick paradise, Ally McBeal), who is the face of hard-headed conservatism for the day, Vice President Daniels (the only person in the entire US less capable of running a country than Palmer) and Karen Hayes, who is now jumping Bill Buchanan's bones and is the face of liberal diplomacy for the day.
In CTU, Buchanan is still (mostly) in charge, and Chloe is still there, albiet still waiting for that promotion. Also, Curtis remains as the slightly cack-handed Jack-a-like (though for reasons that Friki will discuss later, he is replaced by another Bad Jack later on). Chloe's ex-husband Morris has joined the party now, as has hot Arabian lady, Nadia, and irritating lanky man Milo.

Friki Verdict
Day 6 is silly, very very silly. But then 24 is always silly. That's the point. If it were realistic, there'd be protracted periods of CTU office staff gossiping around the water cooler and filling in paperwork, or mashing ctrl+alt+delete because the new software has frozen up again. Day 6 does have a few moments of awesome dramatic payoff, but overall struggles to maintain itself after a strong start, so Friki awards it three Celtic Crosses out of five. Two of those solely for the end of hour 4.
